SSBB sells half a million units in one day.

Super Smash Bros Brawl is one of the hottest titles ever released in Japan. Half a million copies flew off store shelves representing 80% of all the stock that currently exists. Sales of Gamecube controllers also spiked sharply due to Japanese gamers picking up the classic gamepads with which to play SSBB. Play-Asia, the hip video game importer, complained that Nintendo cut its order leaving it with only enough copies to supply 16% of its preorders. Nintendo was forced to cut orders due to overwhelming demand for the title that Famitsu rated 40/40. Interestingly, SSBB is known as Bra Snap X in Japan. Just kidding, but that is how Google Translator tells the story.
